Racing 1:1 Getafe
Racing Santander vs Getafe
Spanish Copa del Rey Semifinal 2nd leg, 1945 GMT
Racing lost 3-1 in Madrid in the first leg and has a mountain to climb if they are to go through to the Final. Getafe won also the league match played on Sunday between these two, 2-1 in Madrid.
Getafe has been superb in the UEFA Cup, reaching the quarterfinals, after defeating AEK and Benfica without losing any of the four games (3 wins and a draw). Michael Laudrup, their coach seems to know just how to approach knock out games.
I am sure Getafe will score tonight and will assure that they go through.
I predict Getafe to go through, priced at 1/2.

Steaua 1:0 Unirea Urziceni
Fiorentina 3:1 Genoa
Steaua Bucuresti vs Unirea Urziceni
Romanian Liga I, 1830 GMT
Unirea is three points behind Steaua, and two places back. The guests have a very disciplined squad. Dan Petrescu has implemented a style based on a men behind the ball tactics. This block will be very hard to break by Steaua.
Still, I think Steaua has the most skilled players in Romania, and will eventually score. The crowd at Ghencea will be a very important factor in this game, as it'll be a sell-out tonight.
Steaua, of course, is in search of a Champions League place for next season. Lacatus' men could close the gap to leader cfr to six points with a win tonight.
I go for Steaua tonight; with their win priced at 5/11.

Fiorentina vs Genoa
Italian Serie A, 1400 GMT
Genoa is placed in the middle of the table, and has an important player injured for quite a while now, that's Paro. Striker Borriello will be a big threat for Viola today.
Fiorentina comes after they managed to beat Everton on penalties at Goodison Park on Wednesday nights, and went on to qualify for the quarterfinals of the UEFA Cup.
Another very important news will be the return of forwards Santana and most importantly Mutu, after respective injuries. After AC Milan were beaten last night by AS Roma, Fiorentina has a chance to put a 4 point gap back to the Rossoneri come four pm today.
I predict a very tough win for Viola today, priced at 7/11.

Chelsea 6:1 Derby
Chelsea vs Derby
English Premier League, 1945 GMT

Derby are last in the standings, with virtualy no chance of staying in the English top-flight. They are dreadful away, as they've managed to score only five goals.
Chelsea is third, 8 points behind leaders Arsenal, but with two games in hand. This is a sure win for the Blues, but Terry & Co have conceded only 8 times at home, so I will go for no goals for Derby.
Cudicini will be in goal for Chelsea.

I predict Cudicini to keep a clean sheet tonight, priced at 7/11.

Marseille 2:0 St Etienne
I'm delighted to report a success percentage
of 68.04%(232/341) on my predictions.
Parma 1:2 Sampdoria
Empoli 1:3 Milan
Lazio 2:0 Livorno
Olympique de Marseille vs St Etienne
French Ligue 1 Orange, 1700 GMT

St Etienne are a good side especially at home, and find themselves 6 points behind Marseille. Les Verts have won seven points from nine possible in their last three outings in the league. This match will come to soon for goalkeeper Jeremie Janot, who is coming from a lengthy injury.
OM is placed fourth and is in with a good chance to climb up the table. They beat Zenit 3-1 on Thursday in the UEFA Cup, and will play the return leg on Wednesday. But still I think its attacking force (Valbuena, Nasri, Niang and Cisse) will be too much the visitors tonight.

I predict a win for l'OM, priced at 7/10.

Empoli vs Milan
Italian Serie A, 1400 GMT

Empoli is fightin to avoid relegation. They will be looking to get a point from this one.
Milan are out of the Champions League, after losing 0-2 at home to Arsenal, and even though the Rossoneri will have to cope with a lot of injured players like Dida and Seedorf and the suspended Gattuso, Milan will take all three points from Empoli. The likes of Kaka, Pato and Gilardino will want to improve their 5th spot in the standings and climb in the top four.

I predict a most important win for Milan, priced at 9/11.

Lazio vs Livorno
Italian Serie A, 1400 GMT

Livorno are a team that wants to stay in Italy's top flight come the end of the season, and for that matter they have to win their home games and grab something from their away games. Lazio has improved their force in the minimercato with the addition of striker Bianchi.
The bianco-celesti will be to much for Livorno today, as Rocchi, Pandev and Bianchi
will combine for a good show at the Olimpico in Rome.

I predict a win for Lazio, priced at 7/11.

Parma vs Sampdoria
Italian Serie A, 1400 GMT

Parma are struggling, but it feels like they've gained some momentum lately and can get out of the relegation zone. With the adding of striker Cristiano Lucarelli from Shakhtar they've strengthened their attacking football and that will keep them in the Serie A, one thinks.
Sampdoria are great at home, but mediocre on their travels. Today they'll be without rebel star Cassano, who is serving the first of a five match suspension.

I go for a Parma success this afternoon, valued at evens in the bet market.
Pandurii 0:1 Steaua

Saturday, March 08, 2008

Barnsley 1:0 Chelsea
Barnsley vs Chelsea
English FA Cup, 1715GMT

Barnsley won at Anfield in the last round, throwing Liverpool out of the FA Cup.
Chelsea is a different proposition, as the Blues will be too much for the Championship side.

I predict a Chelsea win, priced at 1/3.

Pandurii vs Steaua
Romanian Liga I, 1830 GMT

Steaua are going in pursuit of the leaders and the shouldn't have problems at the last place team.
I predict a win for the visitors, priced at 2/5.

Thursday, March 06, 2008

Tottenham 0:1 PSV
Marseille 3:1 Zenit
Olympique Marseille vs Zenit St Petersburg
UEFA Cup, 1945 GMT

Zenit won the Russian league in 2007. They are a very strong side, coached by Dick Advocaat. THe Russian side plays in a short formation and will pose trouble tonight, as they did when they overcome Villarreal last time out, on away goals. But the guests will have to cope with some injuries, including Turkish striker Fatih Tekke.
Marseille are flying high in their own league, and are going for another Champions League spot come next season. Cana is suspended for this one. The French side has beaten Spartak 3-0 in the last round. This will be a very tight one and Zenit will fight all the way.

I predict a much needed win for OM, priced at 7/10.
Tottenham vs PSV
UEFA Cup, last 16, 1st leg, 2000 GMT

PSV are a good team. They play Champions League football every season. They qualified for the UEFA Cup after finishing third in a UCL group with Inter and Fenerbahce on the first two spots.
PSV are having some injury problems, as their first option strikers Lazovic and Koevermans struggle to make it for the match-up with the Spurs.
The home side has won the Carling Cup, beating Chelsea after extra time. Then, they were torn appart by Birmingham City, losing 4-1. Manager Juande Ramos rested some of his stars for tonights clash. Spurs need to get an advantage before the 2nd leg.

I predict a win for Tottenham, priced at 6/11.

Real Madrid 1:2 Roma
Real Madrid vs AS Roma
Uefa Champions League, Last 16 2nd leg, 1945 GMT

Roma clinched a 2-1 win two weeks ago, after Raul opened the score for the Spaniards. Roma are second in the Serie A, six points behind Inter, and go to Madrid with a 100% healthy squad. This should be the match of the season for the Italians. Totti said his team-mates must be "cinical", if they are to go through.
Real Madrid has a five point lead over Barcelona in the domestic league. But they will have to beat the odds tonight, as they haven't qualified beyond the last 16 in their last three Champions League seasons. Also, los Merengues will have to overdue the absences of Sergio Ramos (suspended) and Ruud van Nistelrooy (foot injury). Robinho is back and has scored twice in a 3-2 victory at the weekend, away at Recreativo. Over 80000 Real faithful will push their favourites all the way tonight and that will be a big factor.
I predict a win for Real Madrid tonight, priced at 3/5.

Tuesday, March 04, 2008

Sevilla 3:2 Fenerbahce
Sevilla vs Fenerbahce
Uefa Champions League, Last 16, 1945 GMT

This is the return leg of the tie. The Turks lead by 3 goals to 2. In their travels, Zico's men
have lost against Inter, and drawn twice at CSKA and PSV.
Roberto Carlos is injured and won't be involved.
Sevilla meanwhile has won all the games played at home in this competition, against Slavia, Steaua and Arsenal. Luis Jimenez' squad is fully fit. The likes of Fabiano and Kanoute have been rested at the weekend.

I predict a win for Sevilla tonight, priced at 5/11.

Sunday, March 02, 2008

Steaua 3:1 cfr
Everton 3:1 Portsmouth
Sampdoria 2:2 Torino
Sampdoria vs Torino
Italian Serie A, 1400 GMT

Torino has managed a draw in the Turin derby. That was a great result, after a hard fought match. Torino has 1 win away, 8 draws and 4 defeats.
Sampdoria are powerful at home. They will also welcome Cassano back after he was rested on Wednesday.

I think Doria will win this match (9/10).

Everton vs Portsmouth
English Premier League, 1600 GMT

Everton is fourth in the Premier League. They beat Manchester City 2-0 away, last time out. Mikel Arteta is uncertain. Pienaar and Yobo have been on the receiving end of a bug,
that seems to trouble quite a few team-mates.
Portsmouth will be missing Pedro Mendes. But Defoe will be out there to score for Pompey. Redknapp's men have won all 10 games when they've scored first.

I predict at least a point for Portsmouth today, priced at 3/4.

Steaua vs cfr
Romanian Liga I, 1830 GMT

Steaua are very good at home. They have a lot of experience after they played in consecutive seasons of the Champions League. They also welcome back captain Radoi. Their attack will be fearsome tonight, with Pepe and Dayro Moreno, Mendoza and Dica.
cfr is first with an 8 point cushion over Rapid. Didy will be out for the season. This match will prove to be the breaking point of their season. Morale will go down and will see more teams involved in the race for the Championship.

I predict a with for the home side, priced at 6/5.

Saturday, March 01, 2008

Roma 4:0 Parma
Roma vs Parma
Italian Serie A, 1700 GMT

After the dissapointment from the match against Inter, where the Giallorossi were equalised in the 88th minute, Luciano Spaletti's men will focus on the match in Madrid against Real. FOr tonight's match Juan is out and Mexes is suspended, which means Ferrari and Panucci will make the defensive couple. Their second place is safe for now.
Parma has Gasbarroni back from suspension. The visitors have managed six goals in the
previous two games.
I predict Parma will score, which is priced at 3/5.
